History of Modern Acupuncture Research in China. Xiaoding Cao. State Key Laboratory of Medical Neurobiology and Department of Integrative Medicine and Neurobiology Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, P.R. China. Summary This chapter will review the history of modern acupuncture research in China. The concept of “channels” and “collaterals” has been used for a long time in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Clinical acupuncture yields therapeutic effects on many diseases, according to the general principles of “channels” and “collaterals”. In the past 5 decades, acupuncture research has been very popular in many major Chinese medical institutions, among which Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University (formerly Shanghai First Medical College, and then, Shanghai Medical University) has made substantial contribution to this field. Comprehensive scientific data obtained from normal subjects, patients, and animals have shown that needling of acupuncture points activates the afferent fibers of the peripheral nerves to elicit the De-Qi sensation, and subsequently, the nerve-mediated signals ascend to various levels of the central nervous system (CNS), producing analgesic effect. The pain relief is the most effective outcome of acupuncture treatment. As acupuncture enhances the analgesics’ effect of pain relief, the combination of acupuncture with small doses of analgesic drugs is now being adopted in the management of various types of pain and surgical anesthesia. In addition, clinical and bench studies on acupuncture therapy of other neurological diseases, such as epilepsy, cerebral ischemia, neuroimmune disorders, and woman’s reproductive disorders have also been successfully carried out in the recent years. This chapter will briefly summarize the research progress and present an overall picture of acupuncture research in China. Keywords acupuncture research, traditional Chinese medicine, history, mechanism, progress. ...

Niel-Asher Simeon - The concise book of trigger pointsurn:md5:c0fb21866d71aa42f948bcee04d09f232016-10-01T03:13:00+01:002016-10-01T02:20:24+01:00balderNiel-Asher SimeonAcupunctureCulture physiqueMédecine

About this Book. This book is designed in quick reference format to offer useful information about the trigger points relating to the main skeletal muscles, which are central to massage, bodywork and physical therapy. The information about each muscle is presented in a uniform style throughout. An example is given below, with the meaning of headings explained in bold (some muscles will have abbreviated versions of this). X Marks the Spot Whilst I have included dots/markings in the regions of the most common trigger points, please note that these are not exact locations, but are approximations. A number of factors influence the exact location of any given trigger point. Myofascia is a continuum, and minor variations in, for example, anatomy, posture or weight bearing will have an impact on the location and formation of trigger points. In the clinical setting, you may well find the trigger point location varies. Varying the direction, amplitude and applicator force will also have an impact on locating the trigger point. ...
Maciocia Giovanni - The practice of chinese medicineurn:md5:abeb16a3f26d6667e4b6f9947b9570e82016-09-10T01:13:00+01:002021-02-07T01:09:37+00:00balderMaciocia GiovanniAcupunctureHerbalismMédecine

Foreword. Traditional Chinese internal medicine is the basis of all specialities of Chinese medicine. It systematically reflects Chinese medicine's method of determining treatment on the basis of differentiation of patterns. Doctors of all departments of Chinese medicine must have a good command of it. "The Practice of Chinese Medicine: The Treatment of Diseases with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs" written by Giovanni Maciocia discusses in detail the basic theories of the internal medicine and treatment of 34 common diseases with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. This book describes common methods of differentiation of patterns and treatment of diseases by systematically discussing their aetiology, pathology, treatment principles, acupuncture points and Chinese herbal treatment; in addition, it combines traditional theories with the author's own clinical experience. Giovanni Maciocia has established his own ideas concerning allergic rhinitis and asthma, atopic eczema and post-viral fatigue syndrome, which are new not only in China but also in the West. ...
Delatte Pierre-Noël - 5 points pour mon bébéurn:md5:a3c04172c1ce769c06c97b0db42f94782016-01-29T20:38:00+00:002016-01-29T20:43:19+00:00balderDelatte Pierre-NoëlAcupuncture
